Tech Notes from the Field

I’ve noticed that I have not posted much in the last couple of weeks. Wonder why? Are you guys in the same situation? SLOW! Can’t spend money, so we’ve been looking at other ways to keep ourselves busy. What have you been doing?

I am working on a new studio, but since the “City” has us on the slow boat route all I can do is more preliminary checks and work on some details. This get tedious, so I move on to other things.

I have updated some documentation. Always a good thing to catch up on. How many of your station wiring docs or files need updating?

Public Files anyone? Check those periodically. Slow is a good time for that.

Routine clean it up. We caught a mic processor that belly-up’ed on us. Found that BEFORE the air talent did. How often does that happen? Speaking of mic processing, we did do some minor adjustments last week. Results were good. Another reason to “check them systems”.

The most fun was testing HD2 on our various signals. Yeah, we are not using them, so I figured I can play and see if we can make them work. What we did find was a sync issue between Importer and Exporter on a BTC custom configuration. Still no answers. Another item to address in case someone pulls the trigger and says, “let’s play HD2, or 3 for that matter.”
